Summer Fatigue? It Might Be Your Hormones, Not the Heat

Hello everyone,
I know many of you are doing your best to enjoy the summer, but let me ask you this — have you been feeling more tired than usual? Foggy? Moody? Bloated?
I hear it all the time this season:
“Dr. Dina, I’m exhausted and it’s only noon. I used to love summer, but now I can barely make it through the day.”
Sound familiar?
Here’s what most people don’t realize — it’s not just the heat. When you feel like you’re running on empty no matter how much rest you get, chances are your hormones are playing a big role.

How Summer Impacts Your Hormones
As a wellness doctor, I’ve seen how summer can actually magnify existing imbalances. The longer days, hotter nights, disrupted sleep, irregular meals, and added stress all affect your hormonal rhythm.
Here are just a few key hormones that get thrown off:
Cortisol, your stress hormone
Insulin, which regulates your blood sugar
Estrogen and progesterone, which influence your mood, energy, and menstrual cycles
Thyroid hormones, which support metabolism and brain function
Even subtle shifts can leave you feeling foggy, bloated, unmotivated, or wired and tired at the same time.
It’s Not All in Your Head, It could be your body sending you signals
So many women come to me thinking they’re just not handling life well enough.
“Maybe I’m lazy.”
“Maybe I just don’t do well in the heat.”
But I always remind them:
Your body is not the problem, it’s sending you a signal. Fatigue is a message, not a flaw.
What Can You Do About It?
If summer fatigue is slowing you down, there are things you can do starting today.
Get your hormones tested – Stop guessing. Testing gives you clarity.
Balance your nutrition – Eat nourishing meals consistently throughout the day.
Support your mental health – Create small moments of calm for your stress response.
Hydrate smarter – Add electrolytes to your water, especially if you’re sweating a lot.
Redefine rest – Don’t wait until you crash to give yourself permission to slow down.
Summer Shouldn’t Burn You Out
If this is your new normal every year, it’s time to listen to your body.
You deserve to feel strong, focused, and clear — even in the middle of July.
Let’s work together to uncover what’s really going on. I’ll help you understand your body landscape and design a plan that restores your energy from the inside out.
Because summer shouldn’t be something you survive — it should be something you enjoy.
With care,
